Entirely too many people are carrying extra weight around these days. There are many different reasons, some genetic, others environmental. And the truth is, some of us are looking for ways to lose weight fast. This article describes three plans that can significantly help you lose weight in a week.

It’s important to know that the human body is 75 percent water. That water is necessary to carry blood, lubricate muscles, carry electrical impulses through the brain, everything we do requires water. Millions of years of evolution have caused our bodies to retain water against future need. Most of us carry around 5 to 8 pounds of excess weight in the form of water. If we drink more water, we can take those extra pounds of water off. If you drink around a gallon of water per day, your body will be fooled into thinking that it no longer has to retain water, and you will be able to eliminate the excess fluid.

The second plan to lose weight in a week is to change the diet to one that is completely comprised of fruits and vegetables. Green salads can consist of large amounts of food with very few calories. Not only will you take in a far lower number of calories, your daily fiber intake will be significantly increased. Your bowels will work more efficiently, taking out unneeded waste that we usually just store in our intestines.

What’s the third plan? You can rapidly lose weight by increasing both the amount of water you drink and the vegetables you eat. But this time, you add moderate amounts of lean meat, fish, poultry, and whole grains, because the human body is designed for good protein and complex carbohydrates as well as fiber and water. The carbohydrates are needed to supply fuel for the body to burn while the reduction in caloric intake will result in loss of weight.

Weight loss will be a bit slower with this plan, but it does take a more healthy and balanced approach to dieting. It also allows you to take in the nutrients your body needs while ensuring your calorie intake is lower than the amount of calories you burn every day.

By following this balanced plan, a person can lose, on average, from 8 to 20 pounds in a week. Assuming, of course, that you have that much excess weight to lose. 8 to 20 pounds is a very realistic goal, and who couldn’t afford to lose that much?
