Coming from a short family I can tell you that most people do not like being short. Fortunately, there are many different things that you can do on a regular basis to promote healthy strong bones and increase your height. These two things go hand in hand. Follow these guidelines and you will see what I mean.

Exercise plays a big part when trying to grow taller. The most important time for exercise is during puberty. Exercise produces growth hormones that stimulate the cartilage growth plate at the end of the bones. The reason why exercise is so important going through puberty is that once these growth plates fuse into bone after you re through puberty they will never grow again. If you are inactive and overweight during this time you run the chance of stunting your growth. Not to mention that your core stabilizing muscle will become weak and may encourage bad posture. This causes an excess curvature of the spine, which will actually make you look shorter.

Make sure that you avoid scams telling you that you will be able to stretch or lengthen you bones after you went through puberty. This is impossible with the exception of surgery. To understand why you must first understand how your bones grow.

When you are a baby you start out having many more bones that you do when you are a grown up. If fact you have over one hundred more bones. These bones are typically made up of cartilage. As you grow older these bones fuse with other bones to make an adult bone. Typically you have all your adult bones by the time you reach puberty. As I mentioned early, even though these are adult bones, you still have growth plates on the end of them. These growth plates will usually continue to grow until you are’ years old if you are a female and 21 if you are a male.

Even if you are past puberty exercise should be a part of your daily routine. As I mentioned before it will keep your bones healthy and strong. Good posture can add inches to your height. A lot of people have an over curvature of the lower back. Another perk is that the more fit looking you are, the taller you will look. A slim body gives the illusion of being taller than you actually are.

The other major component to take into account is your diet. Eating right is essential for making the most out of your height. One of the key nutrients that you need is calcium. If you do not have enough calcium the body tries to use its own supply from bones to make up for the lack of it in your diet. This will cause weak bones over time. This will make you more susceptible to injuries, especially breaks. Make sure that you eat other foods that contain high amounts of protein and amino acids. This will ensure maximum results.
