Cellulite treatments have come a long way, and there are now countless medical procedures and pills and creams available. However, sometimes the simplest methods are the best. Before you try a more invasive cellulite reduction method, consider a natural one first: your diet. A healthy diet is the most basic way to reduce cellulite and is good for your overall wellbeing as well. Give these cellulite-busting tips a try.

Try detoxifying. Cellulite forms when there are lots of toxins in the body. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and cut out caffeine and alcohol.

Reduce water retention, which prevents the body from flushing the toxins away. Foods high in sodium cause water retention, so reduce your intake of salt, soy sauce, and canned foods. Lactose is another cause of water retention, so opt for reduced-lactose dairy foods.

Drink plenty of water. Though it seems counterintuitive, drinking water actually reduces water retention by helping the kidneys flush toxins out of the body. Stay hydrated with the recommended eight glasses a day. As a bonus, the water makes your stomach feel full and tricks you body into thinking you have already eaten.

Aim for a diet low in fat. Fatty foods tend to lead to weight gain and cellulite. Substitute these foods with foods that have a lot of vitamins, minerals, and fiber and not a lot of calories. These healthier foods keep your body from absorbing as much fat, and they help restore the tissues that keep skin healthy.

Have a lot of small meals during the day. This makes digestion easier and keeps your fullness level constant. This makes you less likely to overeat. When you’re eating, chew slowly to spread out the meal. Your body needs about twenty minutes to get the message that it’s full, and when you eat slowly you will get this message and stop eating before you’ve had too much.

Try these cellulite-reducing tips for your diet:

- Choose lean protein instead of fattier ones. Good options are egg whites, fish, chicken, and lean red meat like filet mignon. Instead of having these fried, try them grilled or baked.

- Reduce the fat in your diet. Food like pizza, gravy, cheese, breads and cookies with fillings, butter, and ice cream can be high in fat and should be avoided or eaten in moderation.

- Choose food that don’t have refined sugars. Opt for foods rich in complex carbohydrates like fruits and vegetables. In contrast to refined sugars, these foods have sugars that need to be broken down before the body uses them.

- Prepare your food with less oil.

- Increase your fiber intake. Fiber keeps you from overeating by making you feel satisfied for a longer period of time after your meal and by requiring a longer time to consume.

- Reduce the salt you use in cooking and at meals.

- Drink juice or water instead of soda and alcohol, which are high in calories but low in nutrients.

Incorporate these tips into your every day diet to reduce or prevent cellulite. As an additional benefit, you will see a clear improvement in your overall health as well.
