One of the most intriguing celebrity “diets” in recent memory is the mixture of Cayenne Pepper, Water, Lemon, and Maple Syrup made famous by the Goddess of Pop,  Beyoncé Knowles.

A friend of mine prepared it once for me and I fell in love with it, instantly.  What a refreshing beverage!

I worked it into my quasi-daily diet regimen at the same time as I began walking 5 miles a day.  The regular exercise and the metabolism-boosting qualities of cayenne pepper helped me reverse the slowing metabolism typical of we 50-somethings.

The health benefits of Cayenne Pepper have been known for centuries by indigenous peoples around the world.  The heat from the pepper makes it a wonderful flavoring for foods.  It also boosts saliva production, which is good for digestion.

The Cayenne Pepper + Water + Lemon + Maple Syrup drink has long been regarded as a liver cleanser, a great way to flush out the liver and maintain health.  Beyoncé drank it and had no other food for a couple of weeks and lost tewenty pounds, as she was preparing for her part in the movie “Dreamgirls.”

Quite a few other celebrities caught on to the diet and it became the usual fad.

Too bad.  As a diet it is a disaster!  But with a banana it’s a nice way to start the day!

Cayenne pepper isn’t for everyone.  It’s  name comes from the Greek word “to bite.”  Some people find that the “bite” is way too hot for them.

Too bad.  Because Beyoncé’s Beverage is much better than a strong cup of coffee for your morning eye opener.

Taken with a banana, Beyoncé’s Beverage is an excellent way to start the day.  It is a [low level appetite suppressant so|enough of an appetite suppressant that] a person can wait an hour before having a nutritious breakfast that will provide the needed carbs and protein.
