Okay boys and girls, enough is enough! You’ve downloaded a couple of dozen e-books, spent money on a CD course or three and joined your local gym. Now you’re complaining because you’re still flabby and overweight. Guess what? That’s because you don’t get fit by spending money: You get fit by working out!

Let’s start with you men. You take a look in the mirror and decide that it’s time to buy an e-book about washboard abs so you can look like the guy on the cover. Then you print it and put a staple through the pages. After all that work, you decide its time for a break, so you grab some erotic comics and a snack and sit down and read for awhile. Six months later, the workout manual is in the same place you left it before.

Gals, is this what you did? You ordered an aerobics workout DVD online. When it came in the mail, you popped it into the player and sat on the floor to study it once before you actually followed along. The next time you played it, you sat on the floor and worked on your disney scrapbook while it played in the background. You haven’t looked at it since.

As for that gym membership – they must love you there! You just pay them a bunch of money every month and maybe go in for a half-hearted warm-up on the exercise bike before you decide that you’re feeling a little run-down and better come back tomorrow.

They love you at the gym because like so many of their other members, you pay them for a service you never use. Your loss is their gain. You don’t cost them a dime, but continue to pay them big bucks for your gym membership.

What you do with your body is nobody’s business but yours. Just keep it that way, okay? Stop whining about how nothing you’ve tried works. It doesn’t work if you don’t use it. You don’t lose weight by thinking about it and you don’t get strong by going to a personal massager. You do that after you’ve had a good weight training session and have earned a good massage. What ever made you think that having your flab massaged would make it go away?

If fitness is really your goal, you really will stop complaining and start doing something about it. Otherwise, just go back to your comics and scrapbooks.

 

Exercises For Abs

Let’s just refer to our characters at Brother A and Brother B today.    Brother A was about 28 at the time of this story and his Brother is 2 years younger than him.    Summer was fast approaching and the brother’s were going to be sharing a beach house for the upcoming season.  Knowing that they would be wearing swimsuits to the beach practically everyday, they both wanted to get fast abs by the time they were ready to leave for the beach.

Brother A who is the “know it all” of the two says that he doesn’t need any assistance in getting fast abs.  Brother B is different than his Brother and decides to do some research in the beginning phase.  Both Brothers have put on some extra pounds over the last few years by not working out!

Brother A proceeds to go to the local gym and sign up for a monthly membership at about $50 a month to try and get fast abs.   Brother B is not as fortunate to be making as much money as his brother and decides that he is going to have to get by working out at home to get his fast abs.

So Brother A starts going to the gym 5-6 days a week for 1-2 hours at a time.    He refuses to except the complimentary training sessions that the gym offers because he already “knows what to do”.  The other Brother decides to surf the web first, does some research, and buys a reasonably priced program that shows him a plan of what to do.

When you sign up for a gym membership you usually get a complimentary session or two with a trainer, just to show you around the gym and some of the equipment.     Then they try to sell you on a personal training package.

Well after 2 months of working out pretty consistently Brother A sees Brother B in his swimsuit after arriving at the beach and he can’t believe what he sees.  Brother B sports a rock hard stomach and looks incredible.  Picking his jaw up off of the floor, Brother A can’t believe he was the one with the gym membership and had nothing to show for it.  As competitive as Brother A is, he never takes his shirt off again that day.

He finally calms down a little and asks Brother B how he got his fast abs.    Brother B tells him about purchasing the program off of the internet and following what it said consistently.  He relayed to him that he couldn’t have done it without knowing what to do from the beginning.

This story shows that it saves time and effort to do a little bit of research before you start to accomplish your goal.   You can put into place massive action, but if your going in the wrong direction, you will waste your time and possibly get discouraged.
