Have you seen/heard people talk about the benefits of motivational techniques? There are many. You’ve probably heard of weight loss journaling. You’ve probably heard of goal setting. You’ve probably heard of rewards. But there’s one other thing that has to be considered…being nice. What about just being nice to yourself while on the HCG hormone diet?

Sometimes “just being nice” it out of reach. We are just not capable. We’re stuck. We’re in a run and the only thing we can make ourselves aware of is that we know that there are things we want to change or do better or do differently. While we’re focusing on all these things that we are trying to do we forget that we’ve already done something right. You may already be on the HCG hormone diet. That’s something right. It’s a great step. It provides drastic weight loss more often than any other diet on the market. When drastic weight loss is the goal the HCG hormone diet is the most effective diet by which you can achieve this goal.

In the mean time…don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s terrific to have goals. It’s terrific to have big goals. There’s an old saying about aiming for the moon and you’ll land amongst the stars. That is totally true. If you expect yourself to succeed and remember not to lump your efforts/your hard work into one big ball of failure if things don’t end up exactly as planned you will have a much higher chance for eventual success.

Plans do change. We all learn this at a very early age. A “plan” almost never starts and finishes without some sort of mild to drastic deviation occurring. And that’s perfectly natural. Deviating from the plan can sometimes be a minimal swing away from the approved food list. Or it could be a HUGE blunder like deep dish pizza followed by birthday cake and ice cream. We’re all human beings and being human…we make mistakes.

So when you are in the spot where you realize you’ve just deviated from the plan; you’ve made a mistake. Give yourself just a moment to recognize it and then remind yourself of your goals and that you’re on the right track. You just need to turn away from the mistake and focus on your goal again. You’ve got your destination. And you’ve got your plan; get back on it. You’ll have fabulous days and you’ll have rough days. That’s just the nature of the beast.

When you’re in the midst of a rough day remember to tell yourself that tomorrow is a new day; a fresh start. Tell yourself that tomorrow is going to be a fabulous day and then aim for that. The fabulous day you plan on happening might not come to fruition. That plan could be disrupted. And that’s a bummer. But that’s the way it goes. Just know that when you aim for fabulous…it’s much more likely that you’ll get it or that you’ll fall just a little bit short in comparison to the results you’ll get from not aiming at all.

While you are going along on your HCG hormone diet attempt to identify those items, people, place, foods, etc. that seem to inspire a “bad day.” It might be that you just can’t have Oreos in the house; even with the intention of using them strictly for the kids’ school lunches. And that’s fine! The kids will live without Oreos in their lunch for a few weeks. You might find that you can’t go out to eat at your favorite restaurants because even if you decide you’re going to order a salad…you always end up ordering your old favorite dishes instead. It’s not a problem; just tell your friends that you’re not eating out for a month and that if they want to hang out they’ll have to take you to a movie instead.

Take note that encouragement (by definition) is positive. If you notice that your form of “encouraging” yourself is actually to repeat negative comments and opinions to yourself over and over you need to redefine your method as “discouragement” because that would be a more appropriate definition. If you need a mantra…make it positive. For instance, tell yourself over and over how much weight you’ve already lost and how much you are about to lose.

Searching for weight loss can be exhausting. It’s an endless search for a very well hidden happy place. But what if you could actually find what you were looking for? You may have always focused on big weight loss centers. You may have always focused on surgical procedures. You may have always focused on intensive calorie counting programs. Regardless of the fact that these programs have often offered success to others…if they already didn’t offer success to you then they are a negative pattern.

Or maybe the problem patterns are more “you” based. Maybe you need to remember that you have a habit of quitting before you are finished with a program. Maybe you have a pattern of jumping from one incomplete program to a new one. Maybe you have a problem following the program rules. Maybe you are an “exception maker.”

Identifying this type of pattern makes you stronger. You have a new knowledge. And you can use it to identify the weight loss diet recipe that will work for you. For instance if you have a hard time sticking to the rules then you can try a plan that has very few rules. Or maybe that means that you need to try a plan that has so many options available to you that you never feel that you need to break the rules.

Or if you always had trouble with dieting because you’re pretty social then you need to figure out how to overcome the dilemma of eating out and sticking to diet. Find a new place to go out that offers a menu with options approved for your diet. Or…choose a short term weight loss program that offers drastic weight loss results and just stay home while you’re on the diet.

It’s really quite logical. Avoid what doesn’t work for you. Solve problems that have hurt you in the past. Look for a weight loss program that combines solid weight loss elements in a way that accommodates your needs. And then make the most of it by doing your very best for the length of the diet.

If you’re overweight, you want to lose weight not only so you’ll be more attractive, but also so that you’ll be healthier and will have more energy. However, often dieters start a new weight loss program, and then give it up. They haven’t taken the time to ask themselves whether they’re ready to make changes in their life.

1. Are you willing to change your diet? To lose weight, you’ll need to eat a healthy diet, which includes lots of fruits and vegetables, and lean meat and fish. This means changes in the way you shop, and in the way you prepare food and in mealtimes.

2. Can you commit to building more activity into your days? If you have a sedentary lifestyle, as most of us do, you’ll need to develop a fitness program. You can start slowly, with a ten minute walk each day, but you should aim to be active for at least half an hour each day.

3. Can you commit to keeping a food journal, so that you know exactly what you’re eating? It’s easy to develop unconscious habits in what you consume each day. Perhaps you eat very little, but even that little adds pounds, if you’re eating a lot of sugary and fatty foods. You need to be willing to track each meal, and snack.

4. Will you take time out to do things you enjoy? If you use food as a reward, you can discover other ways to reward yourself and enjoy life. Make a list of ten things you enjoy doing – listening to music, going to the movies – anything you enjoy doing, which isn’t food-related.

5. What will weight loss success mean to you? When you’re overweight, you draw less attention to yourself. By losing weight, you’ll become more attractive, and you’ll get more attention from others. If you’re not ready for this, admit it, and figure out ways you could handle it.

Losing weight will change you. It will also change people’s reaction to you. Often slimmers report that their partners and family don’t seem to like the changes. You can’t lose weight for others. You can only lose weight for yourself. However, you should be ready for others’ reactions to the new you.
